GP Registrar

As of February 5th 2008, we will be joined by Dr Qamar Siddiqui.

He is a  fully qualified doctor who has chosen to specialise in General Practice. Dr Siddiqui will be with us for 6 months. Please make him feel welcome. For more information regarding GP registrars, please see our ‘services’ page.

Dr Jane Steel

Dr Steel begins her maternity leave on 25th February 2008. She has our best wishes and we look forward to her return in November.

Telephone consultations

Do you know you can now book a time to speak with your doctor over the phone? Appointments are available up to a week in advance.

GP Training Assessment

Our status as a training practice was given a real boost at our recent statutory assessment – we were rated as ‘excellent’!

This is a real achievement as no other practice in the Cheshire region has ever had an excellent rating.

Health Care Assistant

As well as passing her NVQ, Flo Owen is also qualified to administer flu and pnemo vaccinations. Remember - Flo is now the first port of call for anyone needing their diabetic review. It’s Flo who checks your weight, height, smoking status etc. Need advice on stopping smoking? A routine blood pressure reading, spirometry or ECG? Make an appointment to see Flo!

Patient Participation Group

We have recently started holding bi-monthly Patient Participation Group meetings. The idea of these meetings is to listen to and incorporate where appropriate, the views of patients in the running of the surgery.

If you would like to attend, please give your contact details to reception.

Patient Survey

The results of our 2007 survey of patients' experience of the practice are available here

The results are also available in the waiting room or from reception.

The results of our 2007 access survey are available here.

Phlebotomist

As of October 6th  2006, we have been joined by a new PCT employed phlebotomist. They are here two mornings per week and will take blood tests on all patients aged 18 and over, saving our patients the trip to Wharton Clinic!

Nurse Prescribing

Since March 2006 Jan Minshull has been able to prescribe certain drugs for patients. This is a fairly new NHS initiative that will certainly benefit Oaklands patients who see Jan in her HRT or family planning clinics. Jan and Sally Hill, our nurse practitioner, are both now nurse prescribers. Both members of the team have worked very hard in order to gain this qualification and we hope that in due course, all of our nursing team will be similarly trained.

Opening Hours

Did you know you can get appointments at 8.00am most mornings? They are very popular appointments so, as with all routine appointments, its best to book as far in advance as possible to ensure you get the times and doctor of your choice.

Due to popular demand (see 2006 patient survey) we no longer close at lunchtimes – with the exception of Wednesdays.

Practice Closures

The practice will be closed on the following afternoons (Please see ‘Opening Times’ for further details)

New Check-in System

Don’t wait in a queue at reception – use our self check-in screen! Its simple to use – just follow the instructions on the screen. It is located on the wall near Clinic Room 1.
