ACCESS SURVEY RESULTS.

In January 2007, a National Survey was undertaken by MORI in order to find out how easy patients thought it was to see a doctor.

Selected patients were questioned about 4 different areas –

As you probably know, you can now book an appointment to speak to your GP or our nurse practitioner on the telephone, at a set time, up to a week in advance.

And because you can book appointments up to 6 weeks in advance, either in person, over the phone or via the internet, you should be able to see the doctor of your choice quite easily.

Of course, if it’s a more urgent problem, you won’t mind which GP you see and in that case, you are guaranteed to be seen within 48 hours but more usually, same day.

Not surprisingly, we did rather well in the survey –

79% of patients surveyed knew they could be seen within 48 hours.

83% knew they could pre-book an appointment with a doctor weeks in advance.

84% were happy with telephone access to the surgery.

98% knew they could see the GP of their choice if they book in advance.

However, there is still room for improvement.
